In the years 1996 - 2001, when the Manne Siegbahn Laboratory had the status of a national research facility, annual reports were published. In its current role, as a centre under the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Stockholm University, the laboratory no longer produces annual reports. The published annual reports are available here.
The reports are available in the PDF file format (requires the free Adobe Reader).
Manne Siegbahn LaboratoryAnnual Report 2001 (9.5 MB)Editors: A. Källberg, E. Oppenheimer and A. Simonsson
The picture on the front cover shows the spatial intensity distribution of He2+ ions created in transfer ionization collisions between stored protons with 1.91 MeV energy and helium atoms in the gas-jet target. The intense feature to the left corresponds to kinematic transfer ionization, whereas the weaker feature to the right is ascribed to the Thomas transfer ionization mechanism. These two mechanisms give different recoil-ion momentum and therefore different impact positions on the detector. Analysis of similar pictures was performed to extract the results described on page 93. ISSN 1401-1611
